How the guidance works
A thesis isn't a single act — it's a process in several phases. You'll feel confident in some, and you may want someone in your corner for others. That's why my work is built as modules: you book only the parts where you actually need support. Individually or combined — whatever fits you and your thesis.
The guidance is structured in five phases and three intensity levels (S, M, L — like T-shirt sizes). So you can pick exactly the level of support you want.
The five phases
Phase 1
Topic and literature research
What exactly do you want to investigate? We narrow your topic, look at what the literature in your field already says, and develop a direction that convinces your department.
Phase 2
Outline, research question and hypotheses
From the topic, we turn out a concrete, testable question. We sharpen your research question, derive matching hypotheses, and build the outline so it carries the content and meets formal expectations.
Phase 3
Methodological planning, statistics and analysis
This is where your thesis becomes scientifically sound. Which method fits the question — survey, experiment, observation, review? Which statistical procedures fit your data? We plan your study design, work out the analysis logic and, on request, the concrete implementation in R, SPSS or Matlab.
Phase 4
Writing and review
Data and results become text. I give you the tools for academic writing and review your chapters for consistency, argument, methodological correctness and language — with notes, questions and concrete suggestions. The execution stays yours.
Phase 5
Presentation and defense (from Master's level)
Your thesis is handed in; the defense is coming up. We go through your slides, practise critical questions, sharpen your argument, and make sure you show up confidently on the day.
The three intensity levels
For orientation: the level you need depends on the scope of your thesis, not on your degree. Many Bachelor's theses do fine with level S. Master's theses on average sit around M. Level L is for theses where you want particularly intensive and detailed guidance. In the free intro call we figure out together what really fits your work — often it's less than you think.
S
Compact start.
A focused impulse for a concrete question. About two hours, of which one session is with you.
M
Broader guidance.
More preparation on my side, more depth in our work together. Three to seven hours, depending on the phase.
L
Intensive guidance.
Detail work, longer sessions, more in-depth review. For when you want to go deep in this phase.
Bundles — continuous guidance
If you want continuous guidance from topic search through to a finished thesis, the modules are available as a complete bundle across all four phases: topic search, outline & hypotheses, methods & statistics, and writing & review. Because more than four modules are bundled, the packages are 10 % cheaper than the sum of the individual modules. Preparation for presentation and defense is not included and can be added separately if needed.
Bundle S
Compact guidance across all four phases.
€900
Bundle M
Comprehensive guidance across all four phases.
€1,620
Bundle L
Intensive guidance across all four phases.
€2,295¹
¹ The intensive level for the topic-search phase is only available in size M as an individual module. In bundle L, that phase is included via the corresponding M module, so you still get continuous guidance starting from the topic search.

Add-on: statistical analysis
If your thesis includes a quantitative data analysis, I can guide you methodologically through a working session — in R, SPSS or Matlab. We talk through your concrete approach, I show you with examples which steps make sense and why, and we go through your questions on implementation together.
I do not write code for you and I do not run analyses on your data. The analysis itself — writing the scripts, applying the procedures, interpreting the results — you do yourself. That way the work stays yours, and you actually learn the craft an empirical thesis requires.
2-hour session — €200
Bookable as an add-on to any M or L package in phase 3.
What I offer — and what I don't
So there's no confusion: The Science Dad is a coaching offer, not a ghostwriting service. Here is the clear line. Guidance, not ghostwriting.
What I offer
- Asking questions that sharpen your work
- Refining hypotheses and research questions with you
- Laying out methodological options and weighing them with you
- Explaining statistical procedures and showing how they apply, using examples
- Reading your text, commenting on it, flagging weak spots
- Formulating concrete suggestions for improvement
- Recommending literature and showing how to search
- Critically questioning your presentation and rehearsing it with you
What I don't offer
- Writing or rewriting text for you
- Doing your literature search and writing it up for you
- Running your data analysis for you
- Building your slides for you
- Communicating with your supervisor
- Appearing as a co-author
Why that line isn't negotiable
Academic honesty matters to me. Anyone who writes a thesis and passes has achieved something — and, above all, learned something. That is exactly my standard for our work: I want to get you to the point where you yourself develop the skills a good piece of scientific work requires. A successful submission and a good grade are then not mine, they're yours — the natural consequence of what you learned and did in our coaching. Throughout, the focus is on the transparency and traceability of the research process, not on someone else producing the work for you.
If I write parts of your thesis, you precisely don't learn that. You may pass — but you walk away without what you actually went to study for. That wouldn't be a good outcome for you or for me.
So: your thesis stays yours at every step. Please check your university's examination regulations to see whether and how external guidance has to be disclosed — I'm happy to help you phrase that correctly.
